Introducing Just Haiti Coffee

When ordering Just Haiti, please type "Agrowtopia" in the Comment section when checking out so that Just Haiti knows how you found them.

Students at Xavier University of Louisiana (“XULA”) founded Agrowtopia in 2014 to address food justice and food security concerns in New Orleans.  This social conscientiousness extends beyond New Orleans to encompass all disenfranchised peoples throughout the world.

In 2015, XULA students learned about Just Haiti and its sponsor, Catholic Relief Services.  They researched adding Just Haiti’s product, which is a fair trade, organic coffee, to the Agrowtopia product line.  Their research informed them about Haiti’s history and its resistance to colonialism that led to independence, and its relationships with other former colonies in North America, particularly the United States.  Their passion for food justice carried over to supporting small family coffee farmers in Haiti by assisting them to bring their product to the $30 billion US market.

With this background, Agrowtopia is pleased to announce a partnership with Just Haiti.  Just Haiti was formed in July 2007 and is a Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit corporation.  Just Haiti works with the most vulnerable and economically at-risk communities. Agrowtopia is happy to be one of Just Haiti’s US-based partners since we are in agreement with the Just Haiti vision. Just Haiti pays the fair trade price up front — without any reductions–then exports, roasts, packages, and sells the coffee in the United States. Afterward, all profits go directly to the growers and their families.
